Let summer outfits be filled with sunshine and ease

On a summer afternoon in Miami, sunlight filters through palm leaves onto the street. A mother is wiping sweat off her running child, while the cotton dress she's wearing billows lightly in the breeze, its hem brushing against her ankles with a refreshing touch. This scene suddenly reminds me of my grandmother's summer wardrobe — she always said, "Good clothes in summer should be like the shade of a tree, both shielding from the sun and breathable." This phrase, tucked away in my memory, has become the most precious design inspiration for the Nuan Yu Wardrobe's summer collection.

We didn't rush to launch new products; instead, we spent the entire summer visiting various parts of the United States: observing the needs for sun-protective clothing among outdoor workers in the Arizona desert, documenting the commuting wardrobe challenges of office workers on the streets of Chicago, understanding the demand for quick-drying fabrics among surfers on the beaches of Hawaii, and even learning the craft of traditional cooling fabrics from Southern farmers. Those overlooked details gradually became clear: mothers need nursing-friendly yet sun-protective dresses, office workers need breathable shirts that can transition from the office to a rooftop party, and seniors need loose-fitting tops that wick moisture.

"Make summer outfits an aid in cooling down" became the design philosophy for the Nuan Yu Summer Collection. Just like Americans often say "Chill out," we want every piece of summer clothing to offer a refreshing comfort: when you wear something comfortable, you can truly enjoy the summer.

The first summer hit was the "Cooling Mom Dress." During the design process, we invited ten mothers of different body types to try it out: the fabric is a blend of Texas organic cotton and Tencel, which absorbs moisture three times faster than regular cotton; the neckline features a small V-shaped opening that is breathable yet modest; the skirt length is 5 centimeters above the knee to prevent tripping when holding a child; and the side seams contain hidden nursing openings so that breastfeeding doesn't require lifting the entire dress. The most unique feature is the drawstring waist design, which allows for adjustable fit without pinching.

Within a month of launch, we received an email from a rancher mom in Texas: "Yesterday, I was working on the ranch with my child, wearing your dress and chasing calves all day. No matter how much I sweated, it didn't stick to my body, and the hem felt cool as it brushed against the grass, so comfortable." We printed this phrase on the hang tag, making it the design guideline for the summer collection — good summer clothing should understand the heat of summer.

We firmly believe that the comfort of summer clothing lies in the unseen details. When designing sun-protective shirts, we specifically added breathable mesh fabric to the inside of the collar to prevent it from sticking to the neck when sweating. For shorts, we made a 3-millimeter roll hem at the edge of the legs to avoid chafing the thighs while walking. Even the pocket lining is made from moisture-wicking, quick-drying fabric to keep your phone from getting soaked with sweat. These details may not appear in promotional images, but they provide a refreshing comfort in every sweltering moment.

On an organic cotton farm in North Carolina, we saw a cotton field under the summer sun for the first time. The cotton farmer smiled and said, "Good cotton needs plenty of water in the summer, and good summer clothes should last for years." This phrase became the sustainability philosophy for the Nuan Yu Summer Collection: rather than chasing trends that are discarded after one season, we focus on creating classic pieces that can be worn all summer long.

We are committed to using eco-friendly cooling fabrics: Arizona organic cotton is specially treated to become softer and more breathable with each wash; quick-drying fabric made from recycled plastic bottles in California cools down 3°C more than regular fabric; even the buttons are made from coconut shells, featuring a natural texture. Each summer garment comes with a hang tag printed with a map of fabric origins and an environmental index, letting you know how your clothes grew in the summer.

More importantly, we educate our customers on how to extend the life of their summer outfits: each piece comes with a fabric care guide, our website offers tutorials on repurposing old clothes, and faded T-shirts can be sent back to our studio to be dyed into new summer colors. A customer in Colorado repurposed her worn Nuan Yu dress into a sun-protective apron and said, "Wearing it while cooking now feels like I can still sense the summer breeze."
